Why a healthy breakfast is so important
During the night, our body continues to function, the body temperature must be maintained as well; all this requires energy, even though we are sleeping. Thus, when we wake up, the quickly available energy resources, the storage of carbohydrates in the liver, are almost completely depleted. However, well-filled storages of carbohydrates are important for a good start into the day. Especially our brain covers its energy requirements almost exclusively from carbohydrates which is why breakfast is the most important meal of the day - whoever has breakfast is more productive and does not fatigue so quickly. Grain products such as whole grain bread and flakes are sources of carbohydrates; in addition, they are rich in dietary fiber which is important for a proper digestion.
Our body also needs protein that can be found in dairy products such as low-fat curd and cottage cheese, but also in vegan foods such as quinoa, a gluten-free pseudo grain. Fresh fruits and vegetables provide us essential vitamins and phytochemicals. If you want to lose weight, you should by no means skip breakfast; rather eat slower so that the feeling of satiety appears faster. Restrict the intake of carbohydrates and increase the amount of proteins, preferably from vegan sources. Here, a meal replacer in the form of a tasty plant-based protein drink is recommended. This ensures a sustainable feeling of satiety and does not lead to an overly and quick rise of the blood glucose level, as it is the case with simple carbohydrates in the form of white bread. For further energy generation, the body may in some circumstances fall back on its fat deposits. Especially when you move a lot during the day and generally consume fewer calories.
As with everything, even for breakfast everyone of us has its personal preferences: Some of us like the savory taste already in the morning, others like it sweet. Whatever you love eating, the overall mixture is crucial. Of course and above all, breakfast should taste great - just as great as all the other meals of the day. But it should also give us all the nutrients our body needs so that we have a fit start into the day and also stay fit as long as possible. With that in mind, you can enjoy something of everything: Your favorite jam, delicious hot chocolate and even scrambled eggs with bacon. Along with that, nutrition-conscious people would probably eat a bit of parsley, tomato and cucumber…
